Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with it.

Who I am

This website belongs to Nicolas (Nic) Wood, based in County Durham, England. I am responsible for the personal information collected through it. You can contact me about anything in this notice through the contact form.

What I collect

If you use the contact form, I receive your name, your email address, your organisation if you give it, the subject you choose and your message.

Like most websites, this site also records basic information about visits, such as which pages were viewed, the type of device and browser used, and an approximate location. This is collected by Squarespace, which hosts the site, and I see it only as totals. I do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.

Why I use it

I use the details you send through the contact form only to reply to you and to continue the conversation you started. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. I use visit information to understand which pages are useful and to improve the site.

I do not sell your information, add you to mailing lists or use it for marketing.

Who else handles it

Squarespace hosts this website and delivers contact form messages to me. Microsoft 365 provides my email. Both act on my behalf and may process information outside the UK, under legal safeguards for international transfers.

How long I keep it

I keep contact form messages for 12 months after our last exchange, then delete them, unless we are still in touch about an opportunity.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. You can also object to how I use it. Contact me and I will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Cookies

This site only uses cookies that are needed for it to work, such as those that protect it against misuse. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
